“My journey in the world of arts began back in the 1980s when I discovered my passion for design. From the very start, I knew that art was my calling, and I embraced it with all my heart.
Life took a turn when I got married in my early 20s, and I had to take a break from my career. Like many women of that time, I focused on building a family and supporting my husband. Yet, deep down, I always yearned to be independent and continue working. Thankfully, my husband was supportive, and after two years, I found my way back into the workforce. I returned to teaching, this time as a Montessori teacher, driven by the desire to educate not just other children, but my own as well.
For the next four years, I loved every moment of teaching and nurturing young minds. However, I made the tough decision to quit my job to spend more time with my children, whom I wanted to raise in a holistic environment. I wanted them to learn and experience everything life had to offer, and I became deeply involved in their growth and education.
Yet, the entrepreneurial spirit within me never waned. I was married and had 2 kids when I wished to start a business on my own in early 2000s. I took a leap of faith and started a business importing and selling items from Singapore. Unfortunately, the sales were slow, and the venture did not flourish as I had hoped.
I realized that I could create those imported items myself, right here in Chennai. I started a store and surrounded myself with a team of passionate individuals, especially women who can help me create and make sustainable and eco friendly gifting and packaging needs. I named by brand ‘Golden Lotus’.
My team became my strength, we grew together, and they evolved into creative contributors, offering valuable ideas and innovations. We started doing worldwide shipping. Throughout my life, I have cherished every experience, drawing inspiration from people, places, and work. I firmly believe that experiences are our greatest teachers, shaping us into who we are and who we strive to be.
Discipline, focus, and commitment have been my guiding principles on this journey. Despite facing challenges and physical traumas, I learned that as long as you have a dream and are willing to work towards it, you will find a way to achieve it.
Beyond personal success, I recognize the importance of giving back to society.
Today, at 55 years old, I look back on my journey with pride and gratitude. It has been a roller-coaster ride filled with ups and downs, but I wouldn’t change a thing.”
