“The journey from being a young girl with a dream to becoming a successful orthodontist has been nothing short of extraordinary. I knew from the 9th grade that I wanted to be a dentist, and my determination only grew stronger with time. Choosing BDS was a decision I made willingly.
As I completed my BDS, I realised that I wanted to be more than just a dentist; I wanted to be a smile architect, someone who could make people’s smiles right and spread happiness. My family, though traditional in some ways, was supportive of my ambitions, and I had their backing as I pursued my dream.
Life took a new turn as I got married at 24. The initial stages were challenging, but I was fortunate to have a supportive family by my side. Even during my pregnancy, I did not let anything deter me from my goals. I wrote my university exams while I was four months pregnant.
During my MDS, I faced many physical and emotional challenges. Fatigue, nausea, and low energy levels tested my willpower. However, I remained focused and determined, becoming one of the top students in my college.
In those tough times, I decided not to give up on learning and did a course in Invisalign. When my baby turned one year old, I took a leap of faith and opened my clinic near Alwarpet. Little did I know that a global pandemic would soon hit, challenging me even further.
Despite the uncertainties brought on by COVID, I continued to practice and care for my patients. The constant pressure from society, especially the guilt associated with not being with my child all the time, tested my emotional fortitude. I was away from my kid for almost 6 months. My parents and my husband were my pillars of strength, supporting me, despite the fact that I was seldom available at home (with precautions, of course).
As a result of my passion for my profession, I am now one of the top five Invisalign dentists in Chennai. I believe that women can multitask and balance their personal and professional lives. It is a born boon for all women, and I have embraced it wholeheartedly.
I never believed in settling down too soon; instead, I preferred to streamline my ambitions and achieve them one by one. Life may throw challenges, but I have learned to adapt, balance and find out ways to resolve the challenges.
As I reflect on my journey, I feel immense pride in what I have achieved. My smile architect dream has become a reality, and I continue to spread happiness by making people’s smiles perfect. I have learned that when it’s meant to happen, it will happen, and I am grateful for the journey that has shaped me into the woman I am today – a proud mother, a successful professional, and a loving wife.”
