“Growing up in a conservative household, studies were always prioritized and extracurricular was not given much importance! In that regard, my parents shifted me to a new school to make sure that I was given a disciplined education. That was where I met my art teacher.
Art, in my life, was always put in the back burner and it was never encouraged much but it was he who saw a talent in me and helped me nurture it. He was one of the prominent cartoonists who drew cartoons for leading national newspapers. His classes were always fun and entertaining.
We were a group of sixth graders who took this class as an elective so he taught us basic caricature techniques using simple examples that we could easily follow. Intrigued by his teaching, I started to imitate his steps and slowly started to draw with a decent level of perfection.
He noticed it and called me out one day to appreciate my talent and urged me to apply for competitions. For someone who was always condemned for not taking studies very seriously, his recognition was everything to me!
This small push would in turn enable me to apply and win many national level competitions! And fast forward to today, I am running an independent brand where I sell my art and make process videos on YouTube.
No two people are born the same way. And to be recognized for my innate talents way back in my 6th grade made a world of change for me and I am utmost grateful for that tiny moment which eventually changed the course of my life.”
