“Dejections are quite common in life, but one should learn to overcome them and keep trying despite the downfalls. Something or the other is bound to click soon! I was born an introvert and moving from my home town for education was a difficult move for me. Towering structures have awed many in the past and that was not lost on me either. It was too intimidating for me to come out of my hostel room, even to buy groceries. The people here too seemed to belong to an elite cult, something I found hard to explore. I considered going back home many times but my parents kept advising me to continue trying. It was a difficult phase, trying to adjust myself to a new place surrounded by strangers but after a while, I began to get myself acquainted with the place. I made a few friends at college and life started to take a comfortable pace. I can now say that I have come out of my shell and have made an identity for myself here. I have even begun to consider the college my second home. Being surrounded by lush greens on all sides, it is placed in a picturesque location and makes the entire experience of “college” so pleasant and wonderful. My professors would be the classic examples of people who go “beyond the call of duty” and take a keen interest in guiding us. Be it anything from a personal problem to a career choice, I know that I can always reach out to them for help. I travel to my hometown Trichy, once in a month but I start missing Chennai the moment I leave it. The city has made an indelible mark on me in that way.”
