“Hailing from Salem, my parents wanted nothing but the best education for me. They were both working, so they decided to enroll me in a boarding school, against my wishes. Even after a couple of years at school, I wasn’t comfortable in the atmosphere. Pleading with my family didn’t help, so I continued through my high school, resenting every day of it. After high school, I wanted to pursue visual communication, but the typical parenting mindset made my parents advise me to enroll into engineering. It was a strict institution and dropping out was never an option. As my graduation neared an end, I wanted to work on my start up idea, instead of a job, so I sat my father down and explained it to him. He seemed happy with it and told me to begin the work. Life had finally taken a sweet turn. But boy, was I wrong. A month later, when I called my father, I received a rude jolt which shook me. One of my relatives picked up the call and my worst fears came true. My parents had met with a serious accident, following which, I lost my dad. I was only 21 years old then, left with my mom and my sister. I had no clue about to how to go about my life, so I let go of my startup dream and went for a job. Once I had a strong foothold at my job, I started ideating my startup dream once again. I started work on delivering car wash services and it was taking good shape. Suddenly a huge disaster shook the city of Chennai and I flew back from Bangalore to volunteer with my friends. Unfortunately, I had to let go of my job for that. Back in Chennai, I got called for a bank job and got selected! Not much later, I got into a start up. My old passion for a business idea starting gaining momentum and I started working towards my business idea to provide market research data to restaurants. The ups and downs followed but with consistent effort, we were able to pull off an event successfully. The road ahead still seems to hold a lot of promise and I am planning to give in my all to whatever it takes. The tough times have strengthened my spirit but I have never let my down falls deter me. I am constantly striving forward to make an identity for myself and become a successful entrepreneur.”
