“Growing up, I have always had a deep fondness for dogs. I would easily be the first one to volunteer to take them on walks and I just loved being around them. They calmed me down and I held deep interests and love for them in my heart. This love eventually led me to being one of the top celebrity pet groomers in the city.
It started when I volunteered to work as an assistant to a vet near our place. I would spend time with him understanding breeds and their behaviour. I loved working with him as I assisted him in giving treatments to whichever dog came to us.
This was around the time that I came to know about pet grooming. It was a wonderful field and it enticed me to no end. I took up a part time job as a pet groomer with one of the city’s pet grooming outlets and started to learn the nuances of the job. Right from the bath, nails to haircuts, I loved my job and I enjoyed the time I got to spend with my pets.
Soon word of my work spread around and I landed my first client as a pet groomer – Actor Kamal Hassan himself who had hired me for grooming his dogs. Since then, there has been no turning back. My USP is that I travel to the client’s place so the pets that much more at ease with me.
Currently I cater to around a hefty percentage of the celebrity population from Chennai. The job satisfaction that comes out of this is immense and I keep myself updated with new courses every now and then. It was a hassle to convince my parents to allow me to take this up in the beginning but I think my parents now see me for what I have to offer.
We all have a burning Passion inside of us that is often neglected or brushed aside. But if I had listened to all the criticism of everyone around me when they saw me choosing pet grooming as a profession above everything else, I wouldn’t have landed where I am now. It’s never too late to stand up and ask for what we want. For if not for us, who else will?”
