“I still remember the day our amla tree was planted as a small sapling. It was brought in because my mom wanted to use it for poojas on Friday. But within no time, the tree grew up to three floors and we had to bring in down. The sound of the roots snapping and the branches cracking was heart-wrenching for me. Nothing could come close to the level of remorse I felt as I felt at that point in time. What could possibly be worse than killing a living thing? I carried around this feeling with me for as long as I can remember. We did make donations to different temples for tree saplings but I couldn’t fill the void this tree left in me. And that is when I decided that someday I would be an integral part of growing trees as much as I can. I started volunteering with different NGOs and I would actively participate in tree plantation events. I would go to visit the place to see how far they have grown. It is simply marvellous to see how a small sapling can grow into a tall gigantic tree. Nature is truly spellbinding and the more we realise to co-exist with nature, the more enriching our life is going to be. Someday I hope to play a small but an integral role in preserving this mother earth’s enriching beauty.”
