“From my childhood, I always had this attraction towards men. Karthik knew that he was gay even before we met. Karthik’s family slowly learnt his desire for the same gender. Fortunately, over the years, they understood his feelings and accepted the way he was. Wherein, I got abused when I was very young by my teacher, which made me become gay, for which I’m happy now.

We met for the first time in Karthik’s office – Saghodharan, which is in Aminjikarai, Chennai. I wore a mask and entered the room where he was looking after the accounts. Suddenly, our eyes fell on each other and there sparked something between us.

We decided to remain friends for a while until we understand each other completely. After 3 months of chatting and talking over the phone, I couldn’t wait further to express my love for him.

For the first time, I invited him to my house. We were a little nervous because we understood that we liked each other so much and everything was in sync. The moment he told his love, I couldn’t resist myself from kissing him. We hugged tight and expressed our love for each other.

After realising our commitments and families, we decided to sort out everything one by one. I’m working as an assistant in the film industry whereas Karthik is a consultant & deals with accounts at Sagodharan, which is a community which helps LGBTQ+ people.

We managed to convince our families and got married exactly after one year of meeting in a Sivan Temple (in a small village) in Salem on July 9th, 2022. I must mention that we were so very emotionally connected with each other – Karthik started shedding tears when I was tying the knot. I felt so lucky at that point in life. He’s my supremacy and my blessing, forever – likewise for him!

We moved in together and we’re now treated with more dignity, respect & love by our family, friends and the entire society.

We both have never shown our backs while talking about our stories to the media because we feel this also has to be shared and spoken about. I love the way we are now and we’re enjoying every moment of our lives with gratitude & love. We feel this is God’s gift & would like to voice out for people who feel ashamed or feared. It’s just a HUMAN thing which had already happened for centuries.
