“At the start of my academic journey, I pursued engineering, but I soon realized that my true passion was photography. I wasn’t aware that engineers could become photographers, but I didn’t let that stop me. With an open mind and an unwavering spirit, I shifted my focus to Viscom and began my journey into the world of photography.
In 2011, I started my own wedding photography company, Smileymedia, with a humble investment of just Rs. 6000. With no support from my family, I was determined to succeed on my own, and I did. I secured a loan of 3 lakhs and bought my first camera, marking a significant turning point in my career.
Starting with no office space, I slowly but surely built my way up, and now I have my own office and studio, along with a team of 10. Being a female in the industry back then was a significant challenge, but I never let that hold me back. I was the only girl in the team, and I would often travel in the middle of the night for shoots. But every challenge became a milestone, fueling my confidence and determination to overcome anything.
I fell in love with my schoolmate and business partner, and we tied the knot in 2017. Life was perfect, and I had a successful business and a happy love story to cherish. But tragedy struck when I had a stillbirth at 36 weeks of pregnancy. My beautiful baby girl was born lifeless, and I was plunged into a deep depression. Life seemed meaningless and devoid of purpose.
But then something miraculous happened. I started searching for a reason why my daughter chose me out of millions of people. I began looking for a purpose in life, and that led me to write a book called “Out of Focus.” Through my photography, I started creating social messages on postpartum depression, infant loss, and breastfeeding awareness.
Now, I’m a successful newborn photographer, and I’ve trained hundreds of students in photography. My journey has been challenging, but it’s been worth it. I’ve learned that there’s no right time to start anything other than now, and that procrastination is the enemy of progress. If you have the courage, determination, and resilience to pursue your passion, you can achieve anything.
Life has taken me in different directions to drop me at the right place, and I’m grateful for every experience and lesson I’ve learned along the way. I’m a living example that anything is possible, and I hope my story inspires others to pursue their dreams and never give up, even in the face of adversity.”
