I was born, brought up and currently stay in Tambaram. I was the first person in my family to show an interest in science and pursued a degree in biotechnology at SRM University. But during my second year, my mother convinced me to try out a diploma in fashion design, and I found myself drawn to the creative possibilities it presented. However, I wasn’t that capable enough to draw or do artistic works initially.
My talent and hard work soon paid off when my unique design, using lungi fabric for western wear, was showcased in a prestigious fashion show, and my work made it into the Limca Book of records. Though I initially pursued science, I discovered that fashion design was also a passion of mine, and I decided to pursue it further.
After completing my degree, I had the chance to work in a biotechnology company, but family obligations forced me to give up the opportunity. However, this setback only fueled my passion for fashion design. I decided to pursue a Master’s degree in London, which opened my mind to the global fashion industry.
With my newfound expertise, I returned to India and launched my fashion ideas to various brands and personalities. Despite societal norms that idealized a certain body type, I refused to let my body shape limit my creativity or my confidence. Instead, I found ways to use my unique perspective and my marketing skills to help uplift myself, my mother and whoever has worked with me.
My mother has been a constant source of encouragement, and her love and support have given me the strength to pursue my passions. Even when I faced obstacles or challenges, she was always there to lend a listening ear and offer guidance. I am grateful for her unwavering support, and I know that I wouldn’t be where I am today without her.
I have taken numerous styling sessions both online and offline. With over 900 individuals trained so far, I’m excited about expanding my reach even further. My goal is to make fashion styling feasible for anyone interested in this field and to offer it as a stepping stone towards achieving their dreams. I keep the doors open for everyone, regardless of gender or age, to be a part of this journey. I believe that fashion is a form of expression and should be accessible to all, and I’m committed to helping individuals tap into their creative potential and explore their passion for fashion.
My story inspires me to follow my passions, even if it means stepping outside my comfort zones or challenging societal expectations. It shows that with hard work, family support and a willingness to take risks, I can overcome obstacles and achieve my dreams.”
