“I have been living in the city for the past 30 years and I think it’s safe to say that, the city nurtures and takes care of you in its own way. Moving from my town after marriage was a difficult thing since I had my own preconceptions of the city. But after a while, I realized that the city grows on you. I have raised both my sons in this city and now they have gone on to make a name for themselves in this big wide world. As a working mother of two, I found support and encouragement from all my neighbors and friends here. My favorite place here would be Mylapore as its constantly buzzing with some activity or the other. I have sort of developed a good kinship with all the vendors surrounding the temple so it’s like going back to visit a dear one’s place. Life is all about experiences. I still remember the day when I landed here, completely clueless and intimidated with the towering structures and the transport. But as I slowly opened myself to this experience, I started to understand the nuances better and now, I have come to relish this place and its people. We are here for a very short time so in that, it’s better if we don’t confine ourselves to biases and prejudices; rather live the life for the experiences it holds and see how you blossom in its hold.”
