“As bread winners, the men in the family restrict their roles to just earning a livelihood for the members. But it’s the home makers, who make a home for us inside the house. In that regard, my wife has been an instrumental person in raising our daughters and marrying them off into good families. She is my biggest supporter and someone I look up to; her grit, determination and strength is unmatchable and it is she, who has brought us forward all along the years. I spent the good half of my years serving as an officer in a private sector company. After retirement, I have dedicated my years to spending quality time with my wife. We are now able to catch up on lost time and make the most of it by visiting temples and dear acquaintances. In a world ruled by the hustle culture, I just want to say that as we grow older, children should be more conscious of their parent’s needs and requirements. Parents are their first custodians in this world and they come to know about the world through their parents. So with time, as our children grow older, we age along with them and our bodies start to slowly give up on us. We become more dependent than ever and our needs and requirements start to shift! It is a difficult thing to accept but kids should be more conscious of this and shoulder the responsibility of being there for their parents. For people who have dedicated their entire life to their child’s future, its heart wrenching to hear stories of abandoned parents in old age and shelter homes. You can chase all the money you want in this world but nothing can compare to the joy and contentment of sharing quality time with your family. I wish that people would understand this and become more responsible towards their parents.”
