“It was my mother’s dream to see me as a nurse so I eventually ended up taking up this course with no interest. It would feel like a punishment to work and I was disliking each and every day of this dreaded course until the time my own brother was admitted to our hospital. My role then became profoundly important and I started to understand the key aspect of this important role called a ‘Nurse’. Being a nursing diploma student in MMC, we have two days of classes a week but the rest are practicals at the Rajiv Gandhi Hospital. So I was one of the front line workers during the pandemic and it was one of the fascinating experiences for me. I still remember this particular incident when a person was brought to our hospital in an extremely sick state. I was on the night duty at that time and we intubated him and within no time, he became alright and he was discharged the very next day. There were countless incidents of saving patients throughout the pandemic and we nursed so many of them back to health and it did prove to be one of the most enriching experiences of my life. Today I am dressed up as Bharat Mata for our republic day event at our hospital. This day signifies an important day for our constitution and I am proud to be a part of this amazing country. It is our role and duty to save our nation and strive towards making it the best in the world and I am glad that I got to dress up and take part in this day amongst several others.”
