“We have been friends from the time we joined school. Coming from the same area, we travel together in public transport and go back home together as well. The lockdown has been extremely hard for us as we were finding it so difficult to cope with the challenges. Most of us come from home where affording a phone is unthinkable. However, a lot of NGOs came forward to help and we could take the classes forward with whatever was possible for us. One thing we never thought we would miss was wearing our school uniforms. It’s been such a long time since we last wore them that we decided to wear it whenever we come out to play. Each of us have big dreams in life all fuelled by the kind of hardships that we face in our house. Our parents go through hell and beyond to make sure we go to schools and get the education we deserve so that someday, we can grow into better individuals, earn enough and uplift them. Some of us are stepping into high school next year and soon we will graduate and get into colleges. Most times it seems like a joy ride and but we are also scared of what lays ahead. But for now, we are really happy that we can catch up in between our online class schedule, don our uniforms and come play a game or two here.”
