“I’ve always had a passion for entertaining and empowering people. I believed that living with passion and finding a purpose was the key to a fulfilling life, and I was determined to make it happen.
When I first started out, I dreamed of becoming an actor. But as a North Indian, I often found myself being offered roles that didn’t resonate with me. So, I auditioned for a VJ hunt at SS Music. I was selected amongst 1000s of people across Tamil Nadu. I hosted my live call in the show REACH OUT, where I interacted with common people every day over the phone during a prime-time show. It was here that I discovered the true power of making people happy. Even today people recognise me as “THE REACH OUT BOY”
From there, I worked on various TV channels including Jaya TV. However, I felt unfulfilled interacting with celebrities and politicians. I believed that the common man had more interesting stories to share and their stories needed to be told.
That’s when I landed a job of prime time evening RJ at Chennai Live 104.8 FM. Here, I built meaningful one-on-one relationships with people who often went unnoticed. I found joy in being a listener, building bonds with unknown faces, having meaningful conversations and sharing the stories of those who may not have had a platform to share their experiences.
But then, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and radio had no listeners as nobody sat in their cars and drove. I wasn’t sure what to do next but I knew there was a hidden opportunity. In the media it’s often said, ‘Local content gives global audiences’ and that sparked me to ideate something new. That’s when I came up with the idea of creating a mobile app for Chennai Live. The voices can be heard all over the world, breaking geographical boundaries. The app became a hit, and soon after, I launched an initiative called ChenNoise, where college students could share their thoughts and ideas.
Through ChenNoise, I made students and common people realize that influencers weren’t just celebrities and politicians, but everyday people who had unique perspectives and experiences and who has the heart to speak their minds. I believed that everyone had the power to influence others.
Today, Chennai Live is not just a radio station but a people’s station, a city’s station, and a bridge between doubts and clarity… between questions and answers. With a commitment to giving people a platform to speak, debate, and discuss, we’ve created a space for people to share their stories and ideas. I am proud to have made it my life’s work to entertain and empower people, and I will continue to inspire others to live with passion and purpose.”
