“My earliest memory of my childhood involves sitting on a kitchen slab while my grandmother was cooking. It was her, who instilled in me, a love for food. That, along with the curiosity of mixing new ingredients got me into baking, right from when I was ten.
In my growing years, I used to be an ardent fan of food shows- MasterChef Australia specifically! Deep down, I knew that the food industry was my ultimate calling, but wasn’t sure of which specific sub-stream to get into. I was also muddled between all other options that are conventionally available to a science student. This uncertainty lasted till the time I actually stepped into college. It was my mother, in fact, who guided me, finally, towards taking up a course in food science.
The first day of college was daunting, even though in retrospect, it was probably the best decision I could have taken. It opened my brain to an entire science that lies behind the food. My learnings helped me curb the notion that healthy food cannot be tasty and I wanted to spread that knowledge further.
So, I also started seeking different internships that helped me build a plethora of skills. This includes food styling, photography and much more, which come in handy to date. Another significant step was around the same time when I started my first ever food blog. It has evolved into the content medium I’m most proud of, today!
But I wanted my blog to make a difference. So I started sharing useful insights on nutrition and sustainable eating, apart from just reviewing food. This saw immense support from different people, who constantly told me how my page has completely changed their perspective of food! In the long run, I plan to take the concept of sustainability bigger and start an entrepreneurial venture that will help in sourcing ingredients directly from the local farmers. After all, we should be aware of what goes into this fantastic mechanism called ‘the human body’, right?”
