Health is the greatest wealth’’ is a phrase that has been resonating with our family for ages. I am fortunate to have grown with this thought and such lifestyle practices & eating habits. Going back to the roots with food & lifestyle habits can prevent the diseases of today.
It’s just not a phrase to us; we worship our bodies as they are the tools that make us live on this earth. For such a soulful, functional body, aren’t we supposed to manage and feed the best?!
During my college days, I realised that we were exploiting this body due to the lack of awareness about a healthy lifestyle. We were never really told what damage the evolving food habits can do to us and the younger generation. This instilled my interest in exploring more about healthy foods and propagating the idea of it.
I researched, Googled, read, and spoke to a lot of experts and doctors on healthier goals for sustainable eating. In 2012, my quest for a healthy lifestyle through food habits made me say goodbye to all refined and processed foods. Instead of using these, I replaced these refined and processed ingredients with wholesome, healthier ones & could witness the miracles of these tiny tweaks in lifestyle in my life.
I wanted more people to taste the goodness of what I was experiencing through wholesome traditional foods and a healthy lifestyle. This motivated me to start my blog ‘’Kitchen Kathuktty’’. By now, I was married and the responsibility of a family helped me grow fond of healthy lifestyles and food habits.
Through @kitchenkathukutty, I started creating new recipes with healthy ingredients. Being a young mother, I loved the idea of starting with healthy good habits for young kids. Thus, I concentrated on recipes for kids. Of course, there were always the usual recipes for adults as well.
The truth is, everything healthy is extremely difficult to source and replace in our daily routines.
Sourcing the types of traditional rice, which can be consumed on a daily basis, was very challenging as most of our historically written scripts and books on food are either destroyed or go unnoticed. We don’t have the right references. Unless we do the groundwork, it’s not as easy to find out what is right and its true benefits can never be reaped.
Though there was no huge welcome to “KitchenKathukutty” initially, on seeing my consistency people were eager to learn and give it a try. The young moms of Facebook communities loved what I was doing and slowly began showing immense support. Their love for my initiative and efforts helped spread the word of Kitchen Kathukutty. The kitchen kathukutty community has been growing ever since! In the past 6 years, I have curated more than 600 recipes without refined/processed ingredients and shared them on the website.
I not only indulged in online awareness but also gave talks in schools, guest lectures in colleges, workshops, and awareness webinars about healthy eating and lifestyle. I love doing this because sowing seeds in the minds of future generations is the key to a better tomorrow.
Kitchen Kathukutty now has different recipes for baby foods, millet, and traditional foods. Etc. There’s a healthy alternative to all your favourite junk food! Striking the right balance between traditional, scientific & cultural food habits by excluding non-refined products is interesting, creative, and VERY much needed in today’s fast-moving world.
It’s been 8 years since Kitchen Kaththukutty stepped up and will continue bestowing your minds to switch to a healthier lifestyle. From healthy foods to gentle parenting, holistic living and a minimalistic lifestyle, we’re growing strong and creating a difference
Let’s respect, love and treat our bodies right!”
