“As a graduate of mathematics, I was just another IT employee crunching numbers until the time I decided to do something about it. So back in my college, we had an outreach program where the students would set out to volunteer every weekend. It was nothing unusual but this did eventually spring up in my mind when I had a wall in my workplace.
I started out to volunteer again on the weekends and found that this sparked in me the joy I was missing for a long time. I resigned my job and set out to complete my masters in social work, during which one of my friend and myself founded a collective initiative named ‘Reach the unreached’ along with a group of like minded people.
This was a good period where we completed many meaningful campaigns like distributing sanitary napkins and weekends for child abuse where we spoke on the many aspects of child abuse through online platform. And enter lockdown, we conducted drives to distribute dry rations to different parts of Chennai. And our last campaign was we distributed blankets to homeless late last week.
It’s been three months since I got into my new job as a project manager to self fund my startup to the next level. If I had overlooked my inner calling, I would probably have ended up as another IT employee but I decided to give myself the permission to explore and that has changed everything for me. Growing up, I hope to inspire each and every one out there to pick up a cause they feel passionate about and do something about it. For if not for us, who else will?”
